Bismillah Wal Hamdullillah Was Salātu Was Salaamu ‘Alaa rasoolillahi

Ammā Ba’d: (In the name of Allah ‎سبحانه وتعالى and blessings upon the messenger ﷺ )

Degree, Career, Marriage, Kids, Lots of kids…… That’s the order the older generation expect things to work out for us Women. Well, at least where I am from.

Oh! Let’s not forget about those that constantly remind you that marriage is a sunnah of the Prophet ﷺ  and has lots of blessings so one should get on it. errrm???

What if it shouldn’t come in an order? or what if the sister being pressured is not ready yet? And what if they truly would like to get married but it just has not yet been decreed?

If you are sad or depressed about your delay in marriage or going through a divorce , just remember:

Allah, the Almighty says:
“And it may be that you dislike a thing which is good for you and that you like a thing which is bad for you. Allah knows but you do not know.” (AI-Baqarah, 2:216)

I wrote the poem down below sometime last year. I really do not know what I was thinking but seems like it’s now the perfect time to put it up on my blog as not only are we in Summer, hehe but I am also planning to attend my first ever Full Asian wedding this month Insha Allah!!

It took me months to put my outfit, hijab and shoes together! My closet is just what it is. Jilbabs, Abayas and Kimonos in lots and lots of different shades of dark colours. Subhanallah. The only amazing thing is that I will hopefully not bump into any aunties reminding me of marriage.  (sticks tongue out)

The poem was also featured on Sisters-Magazine which you can view here .

Summer is here

It’s that time of year,

Invitation being received,

It is yet another wedding affair,

Leaving me in despair.

For what would I wear?

Who would be there?

My closet seems like a nightmare

Outfit ideas? Hijab ideas? For this will be a gala affair

Perhaps a vanity fair?

I guess I’ll have to look elsewhere.

Pinterest, YouTube, Instagram or just anywhere.

Regardless, excitement fills the air

I plan my entrance and have made this a career.

Always find a way to prepare,

To be a guest and never the bride.

Running away from Aunties whose questions I fear.

Are you driving them away? No Aunty, my own is near.

But this is getting severe.

What happened to him? I reply with Qadar’ullah.

You should marry the next one that comes, my dear.

Yes Aunty Insha Allah

For I know that ultimate decision rests with Allah.

WasSallallahu ‘alā Nabiyinā Muhammad.
